On May 19, 2006 as part of the 2nd Congress of the International Non-profit Organisation "SAVE FOUNDATION", which took place in Agrinio Greece, "AMALTHIA" was founded as a network with the name "Network for the Preservation of Greek Indigenous Farm Animals - Amalthia".
AMALTHIA is an association of individuals and legal bodies. It operates in accordance to Greek State, and European Union laws relating to non-governmental organizations for the protection of biodiversity and natural environment.
Participates in the international network SAVE FOUNDATION (SAFEGUARD AGRICULTURAL VARIETIES IN EUROPE) and acts as its representative in Greece.
AMALTHIA is based in Athens. The “Network for the Preservation of Greek Indigenous Farm Animals” operates throughout Greece and cooperates with similar associations at national and international level.
